Lady helped to her feet by fire crews!

by isleofman.com 6th December 2010

A 22-year-old shire horse, called Lady, had to be rescued after slipping and falling on an ice patch at the Home of Rest for Old Horses.

Fire crews were called to provide assistance when it became clear staff at the home wouldn't be able to lift the animal, which weighed nearly a ton.

After two hours of using specialist slings, lifting equipment and manpower they managed to get her back on her 'feet'.

The vet and staff at the home then rubbed her legs to bring back the circulation and, within 20 minutes, she was able to walk back to her stable.

Lady is now said to be 'responding well and the none the worse for her ordeal'.
