Proposed laws being 'rushed'

by isleofman.com 6th December 2010

Rushen MHK Quintin Gill says he’s worried proposed laws from the Home Affairs department are being rushed through.

In the House of Keys on Tuesday, Home Affairs Minister Adrian Earnshaw will ask MHKs to consider more than one stage of a bill which would see an extension of anonymity for some witnesses in criminal trials.

Mr Gill says that goes against a fundamental principle of law – that people are allowed to face their accusers – and needs more consideration.

He says he’s concerned at the speed the law is being pushed through.
