Could A-level choice be reduced?

The number of subjects offered at A-level at the Island's high schools may be reduced and more vocational courses brought in.

Education and Children Minister Eddie Teare is planning a review of courses offered at secondary schools and the Isle of Man College.

He says students need to study 'relevant' subjects, and he wants to see Island youngsters offered a wider choice of vocational training, to prepare them for the world of work.

The Minister says he'll be working with senior educaiton officials and head teachers to shape a new way forward.

Mr Teare says it's time to look again at what's offered at A-level, as some subjects have fewer than five students in the class:
