Christmas in Castletown starts today

CHRISTMAS has come early to Castletown with activities to celebrate the festive season starting today (Saturday).

 

Christmas in Castletown will see a number of attractions and activities taking place including a Christmas carousel, enchanted forest, winter wonderland, snow machines, a nativity, market stalls and music.

 

Father Christmas will also be in attendance in the King Charles Throne Room in Castle Rushen.

 

Isle of Man Railways are laying on special Santa Trains to transport people to and from Castletown. For the first time the trains will run from Port Erin as well as Douglas.

 

Vintage buses will be waiting to transfer passengers from the station to Castletown Square.

 

Community, Culture, and Leisure Minister David Cretney MHK said: "The Santa Trains are always a great success bringing smiles and festive cheer to many families. This Christmas is going to be something special with the Christmas Market adding to the experience and making the Santa Trains a magical event not to be missed.”"

 

Christmas in Castletown will take place on December 4, 5, 11, 12, and 18.

 

Tickets for the Santa Trains cost £11 for adults and £8 for children. Children's tickets include a meeting with Father Christmas and a present.

 

Trains depart Douglas from 9.50am on the hour with the last train leaving at 4.50pm. Trains depart Port Erin at 9.30am and 1.30pm.
