A 4-YEAR contract to operate flights between Cardiff and Anglesey is good news for the Isle of Man, says Manx2.com.
The new route offers the opportunity for the airline to further promote its Manx roots and the Isle of Man as a tourist destination.
"As a Celtic neighbour, Manx2.com is delighted to have been chosen to continue the connection between Cardiff and Anglesey,” said chairman of Manx2.com Noel Hayes.
“Our great record of reliability and punctuality on this essential community route, our customer service and competitive pricing have worked together to help secure this four year contract. With our home base just 50 miles away across the Irish Sea, we're excited about continuing our award-winning Manx service into the future.
“We are very grateful to our partners at RAF Valley and Cardiff Airport for their help and support since we started the route earlier this year and look forward to further strengthening those links.”
The company, which is based at Ronaldsway, along with its partner carrier FLM Aviation, has been operating a 7-month contract since May 2010 and has now been appointed to operate the service for four years with £1.2 million per year support from the Welsh Assembly Government.
The new contract commences on 13th December, with seats on sale from today via Manx2.com’s website. The 2011 fares start from £19.95 single.
Deputy Welsh Assembly First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones said, "This air link joining north and south Wales has proved itself to be an efficient, reliable and popular service. Since they stepped in to cover the flights earlier this year, Manx2 has proved that it can provide value for money and can provide the kind of service we are looking for.
“We have been determined to maintain this important connection which has proved very popular with passengers and has contributed to linking up the country with both social and economic benefits.”
Manx2.com’s operations director Dylan Evans said, “It has been great to bring better air services to my native Wales. Having been born and grown up in Cardigan, with Welsh as my first language, I fully understand the need for better connectivity within Wales.
“Our team at Manx2.com will continue to do everything they can to ensure this service is a great success. Manx2.com is an award-winning Celtic company and our passengers can rest assured that my red dragon heritage will be ever-present on every flight.
“We will look to go above and beyond expectations and hopefully there will be further exciting developments later in 2011."
