TWO of the leading ladies in Manx music will be playing at the launch event of the Island's latest music night – The Dirty South.
Anna Goldsmith and Christy DeHaven will play solo sets for The Dirty South's grand opening at the Bay Hotel, Port Erin, on Tuesday, December 7.
Christy will display her guitar and loopstation talents and Anna will perform solo numbers from her acclaimed EP "Horoscope" and album "Let It Rain".
She will also be accompanied by upcoming blues sensations The Very Very Bad Men.
The Dirty South is the result of local musician and member of the Tholtan Builders John (J.C.) Callister's vision of a music club like the legendary Les Cousins in 60s London. This vision was supported by Simon Campbell of The Very Very Bad Men and Bonzo Slater (Beek).
J.C. said: "The Dirty South is about going beyond open nights and breaking down the barriers between musicians, styles, and audiences.
"We'll not only have gig nights but also jam sessions with our house band where people can join in to show their stuff as well as teach-ins for musicians to share and pass on their skills and experience.
"We're also working to get the help of artists visiting the Island too in making this happen.
"Our ambition is for The Dirty South to be the musical melting pot that really puts the astonishing wealth of Manx talent on the map, both in the UK and beyond."
The Dirty South meets every Tuesday night at The Bay Hotel in Port Erin at 8.30pm.
