Weather continues to cause problems

by isleofman.com 2nd December 2010

Department of Infrastructure gritters have again been out, since 5am today (Thursday).

All roads are open (7.20am), bar the same five that have been closed for the majority of the week, namely part of the Archallagan Road; the Beinn-y-Phott Road, and the Tholt-y-Will, Lhergy Cripperty and East Baldwin roads.

The Mountain Road is open, but motorists are again being asked to drive with care as there are still icy patches in places.

Gatwick airport will remain closed until at least 6am tomorrow, after conditions deteriorated considerably with further heavy snow overnight.

Edinburgh airport has reopened but passengers travelling from the Isle of Man to Birmingham are being offered places to travel to Manchester.

On the roads, Bus Vannin reports all its services are running as scheduled.

Delays to mail deliveries in the United Kingdom, because of heavy snowfalls, are having a knock-on effect on the Island.

In the present conditions, the Isle of Man Post Office says it can't guarantee Special Delivery items posted to the UK will arrive the following day.
