Memorial to acclaimed Manxman

A Manx-born architect is being commemorated for the contribution he made to building design in Manchester.

Andy Robson died suddenly in 2003, and earlier this month a glass memorial was unveiled near his last design, Spinningfields' Left Bank.

Mr Robson was born and raised in Ballasalla, attending King Williams' College before leaving for Liverpool University.

His mother lived in the village until her death earlier this year, so he always maintained strong links with the Island.

Trustee of the Andy Robson Charitable Trust Ken Knott says he is regarded as one of Manchester’s greatest talents, and is responsible for over two million square feet of office space in the city.

He says the memorial is symbolic of Mr Robson's work:
