Cold weather payments will be made

Low income families struggling to pay their electricity bills should have sufficient support during the coming winter.

That’s the view of former Treasury Minister Allan Bell, who introduced measures in this year’s budget to offset the cost of price hikes.

Mr Bell, who is now minister for economic development, is dismissing claims the payments have been withdrawn, despite the difficult economic climate:
