THE Island's new chief secretary has been announced by the Chief Minister and Civil Service Commission as Will Greenhow.
Will Greenhow has been the chief executive of the Department of Home Affairs since 2003 and will take over the role in January from Mary Williams.
The 46 year old is a professionally qualified Chartered Management Accountant with 28 years public sector experience gained in both the Isle of Man and UK Governments.
After moving to the Island in 1999 he was appointed as the director of finance and research at the Department of Home Affairs. He was also the project sponsor for the commissioning of the Emergency Services Joint Control Room and the construction of the Island’s new prison.
He was appointed to the role of chief executive of the Department of Home Affairs in 2003 and has led the development of the department throughout this period.
He also currently acts as the chair of the Island's Safeguarding Children Board and works with his fellow chief officers from the Departments of Infrastructure and Economic Development on the delivery of the TT races and other associated motorsport events.
Prior to moving to the Island Will was a civil servant in the Ministry of Defence during which time he qualified as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
He started his career in 1982 at RAF Carlisle, moved to RAF Brampton in Huntingdon, and then worked for the MOD in Whitehall.
