Motorists advised to stay at home today

MOTORISTS have once again been reminded to stay at home today unless their journey is essential.

 

The Emergency Services Joint Control Room have issued the plea as a number of roads around the Island are very icy.

 

The Quarterbridge Roundabout has been reported as being particuarly bad.

 

The Ballamodha Straight has now re-opened and is passable with care.

 

Beinney Phott, Tholt Y Will, the Mountain Road, Lhergy Crippery and East Baldwin road's all remain shut.

 

Ronaldsway Aiport will remain closed until 12pm today.

 

Most bus services across the Island have been cancelled. Bus services 11 and 12 in and around Douglas are running but are only serving Buck’s Road, St Ninian’s, Ballanard Road, Watterson Lane, Hailwood Avenue, Signpost Corner, Avondale Road, Royal Avenue, Port Jack and the promenades to Douglas bus station in Lord Street. They will sett off on the hour and half hour.

The service from Douglas bus station direct to Noble's Hospital is running on the hour and half hour.
