As forecast, the Island has had more snow overnight as temperatures plummeted.

All schools in the Island will be shut today (Monday) because of the weather.

Education chiefs said they 'reluctantly' made the decision yesterday evening after discussions with the Met Office and Bus Vannin, the Island’s government-owned bus company.

Students at the Isle of Man College will also have an extra day off, while King William's College and the Buchan School will also be closed.

A decision on whether they, and all the other schools, will be open on Tuesday, will be made this afternoon.

A number of roads on higher ground remain closed to traffic.

Six major routes will stay shut until further notice, namely the Mountain Road, Beinney Phott, Tholt-y-Will, Lhergy Cripperty, East Baldwin road and Druidale.

The stretch of King Edward Road from Groudle cottages to the Liverpool Arms has re-opened, as has Boilley Spittal in Peel to its junction with Patrick Street.

Coburg Road and Windsor Mount, Ramsey, are now both open and passable with care
At Ronaldsway, the airport is re-opening.
