MHK says bill will run out of time

by isleofman.com 29th November 2010

One of the MHKs charged with scrutinising the Criminal Justice Bill believes its size and complexity will be its own death warrant.

It failed to get sufficient backing in the House of Keys last week.

Instead a three-member committee has been asked to examine the proposed legislation.

Rushen MHK Quintin Gill doesn't think the committee will be able to report back in time, given how much work it will have to do (play audio file):

The bill will be the subject of the Positive Action Group's latest meeting, which takes place at the Manx Legion Club in Douglas, at 7.30 this evening (Monday).
