Criminal justice measures - have your say

by isleofman.com 27th November 2010

Political disquiet over proposed criminal justice measures will be debated at a public meeting on Monday night.

The Positive Action Group’s final meeting of the year will discuss the criminal justice bill – less than a week after it failed to receive sufficient support in the House of Keys.

Instead it will be examined by a three-member committee.

Although Home Affairs chiefs said the bill would improve existing laws and enhance the Island's criminal justice system, PAG chairman Roger Tomlinson believes it would hand police much wider powers of arrest and criminalise minor offences.
