Fixture Freeze in Sport

by isleofman.com 27th November 2010

Sport has been hit hard by the artic weather.

All today's hockey matches have been called off with the pitches around the island frozen and the low temperatures meaning a thaw is unlikely.

In Football, both Railway Cup semi-finals have been postponed - St. George's v Laxey at Glencrutchery Road and Old Boys v Peel at Blackberry Lane.

The only Football fixture to survive the big chill so far is the Combination Two game between Malew and Colby.

In Rugby, Douglas and Ramsey have not travelled off-island for their matches in South Lancashire and Cheshire Division Two because the pitches at Southport and Sefton are frozen.

Vagabonds Ladies game at Darlington was called off earlier in the week due to the heavy snow in the North-East of England..

All other games are on including Vagabonds against Hoylake in South Lancashire and Cheshire Division One - but not at Glencrutchery Road.

The visitors have arrived on the island - and the game is being switched to Mooagh Park in Ramsey with a one o'clock kick-off. The Manx Shield game between Ramsey "B" and Southern Nomads follow this match.
