A MEMBER of the Ramsey Coastguard Team has clocked up 30 years service.

Station officer Graham Brown joined the team on March 31, 1980.

He was promoted to the rank of station officer on March 31, 2004, and has led the Ramsey team during many incidents and rescues.

One notable mission was the rescue of an eight year old boy who had become stuck on a rock face at Dhoon Glen. For his leadership in this difficult rescue Graham was awarded a Commendation for Meritorious Service.

David Callister, Member for Harbours Division, said: "To complete 30 years service with the Coastguard Service is a remarkable achievement and Graham has served the Island valiantly in that capacity. I congratulate him wholeheartedly especially on behalf of the many people who have reason to be thankful to him."

Graham received his clasp to the Long Service Medal from Collin Finney the head of Isle of Man Coastguard search and rescue. He also received a mounted brass clock from director of Harbours Captain Michael Brew.
