The Department of Infrastructure says it's working hard to keep major roads clear in the current icy conditions.
From early this evening (Friday), two gritters were out in the east of the Island, concentrating on bus and secondary routes.
Then, from 6.30pm, three more moved into operation, gritting the main roads in the north, south and east.
The department says it has received numerous calls from people asking for roads to be gritted.
It says the eastern side of the Island appears to be the most affected by the ice and snow, and that's where its resources are being concentrated.
All road users are again being reminded to drive with extra care this evening and overnight.
