Snow and ice result in further road closures

by isleofman.com 26th November 2010

THREE further roads have been closed to traffic by the Department of Infrastructure because of the icy conditions this morning.

The Old Church Road from Crosby to the Old Marown School; Stoney Road in Douglas (from its junction with Malvern Road to Bray Hill) and the Foxdale Mines road from the junction with Main Road and also up to the Shoulder Road.

The roads are all closed until further notice. The Mountain Road also remains closed but may re-open again at 4pm, according to police.

Buses are not running on some routes in Douglas but further announcements are expected before lunchtime.

Motorists are also being advised to avoid roads with steep hills such as the Tholt y Will Road which is notorious for large patches of sheet ice during cold weather.
