CRUSE Bereavement Care in the Isle of Man has been awarded £1,000 as part of Lloyds TSB's Small Change – Big Difference campaign.

This is the third round of the campaign where Lloyds TSB and Mannin Media donate to local grassroots community groups and charities.

The charities must demonstrate a long-standing and ongoing involvement in community life that would greatly benefit from a small helping hand.

Lucy Felton, business development manager for Lloyds TSB, said: "Grassroots charities like Cruse Bereavement Care are why the Small Change – Big Difference campaign was launched.

"The organisation relies heavily upon volunteers and generous donations without which the work they do in the Isle of Man community, to help people to cope with their terrible loss, would not be possible.

"Judging the campaign is always difficult but Cruse Bereavement Care provide an essential service which many people in the Isle of Man will benefit from in their time of need."

Founded in 1988 Cruse Bereavement Care provides one-to-one help and advice for people dealing with grief in sensitive situations and has provided counseling to over 1,500 people in the Isle of Man since its launch.

It relies entirely on local grants and donations to ensure all bereavement volunteers are fully trained to a high standard to ensure that each situation is dealt with professionally, personally and as sensitively as possible.

Les Watson, chairman of Cruse, said: "Training and development for our volunteers is crucial as they are dealing with extremely delicate situations so their skills need to be kept up-to-date.

"We are looking to launch further support groups so the £1,000 grant from Lloyds TSB will provide a great deal in helping us reach out to even more people dealing with the loss of a loved one in the Isle of Man."

The £1,000 grant from Lloyds TSB will go towards training of the bereavement volunteers ensuring that the required fifteen hours of Continual Professional Development are met.

Lloyds TSB will be awarding one more donation to a local charity. To apply log on to -
