THE Isle of Man will get an extra bank holiday next year to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Chief Minister Tony Brown MHK has announced that Friday, April 29, will be a public holiday after a decision was made today by the Council of Ministers.
It will be put into effect by means of an order made by Treasury.
The Chief Minister said: "I am pleased to confirm that Friday April 29 next year will be a holiday in the Isle of Man to celebrate the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. I hope as many people as possible will be able to enjoy this special day and make the most of the long weekend."
The Island enjoyed an extra holiday on July 29, 1981, to mark the wedding of Prince William's parents Prince Charles and Lady Diana.
