by isleofman.com 24th November 2010

A vicar in the Isle of Man has been told he will stand trial in June next year on theft and false accounting charges.

Fifty-five-year-old Canon David John Green of Maughold denies eight counts of stealing more than ?12,000 and ten charges of false accounting.

He allegedly committed the offences between 1997 and 2009, and they are said to have involved the finances of the Maughold Burial Authority, the Diocese of Sodor and Mann and Maughold Parochial Church Council.

Deputy high bailiff Alastair Montgomerie set the trial for June 20, 2011.
