THE Isle of Man turned into the Isle of White in January after heavy snowfall.
The Island was bought to a standstill with many roads deemed impassable.
Road closures resulted in schools shutting for two days, bus services being cancelled, and hospital services being reduced.
Motorists in some areas were forced to abandon their vehicles after getting stuck in snow drifts.
Director of Works for the Department of Transport, Jeff Robinson, said: "The snowfall caught everyone by surprise. We had four to five inches in about an hour.
"As soon as we realised the extent of the conditions we mobilised 20 pieces of plant and arranged for 70 staff to operate the machinery. I believe we deserve credit for getting in and getting mobilised so quickly."
