RAMSEY watchmaker Dr George Daniels received a CBE in January after being included on the Queen's New Year 2010 Honours List.
The 83 year old had already achieved an MBE and is the only watchmaker ever to receive the honour of "Master Watchmaker" for services to Horology - the science of making timepieces.
Dr Daniels said: "I'm very pleased. I suppose somewhere along the line I must have done something to deserve it but I can't see what that is. I just spent all my life playing with watches."
Dr Daniels has made nearly 200 watches and written six books on watchmaking.
In 2006 Sotheby's held a retrospective exhibition to celebrate his work and examples of which are displayed in the British Museum and the Clockmakers Museum.
He has also won numerous awards including the Gold Medal of the Clockmakers Company and the Tompion Medal.
Dr Daniels continued: "My current occupation is the expansion of the handmade watch business in the Isle of Man. I moved to the Island from London in about 1970 and I want to see this business expanded over here. It would be very good for the Island."
