Queen awards honours for leading charity personnel

THE president and former chairman of St John Ambulance Isle of Man have been awarded honours from the Queen.

 

President Lieutenant Governor Vice Admiral Sir Paul Haddacks has been invested as a Knight of the Order of St John.

 

The Dowager Marchioness Conyngham (Annabelle), the immediate past chairman of the charity in the Island, has been invested as a Dame of the Order.

 

The investitures were carried out by the Duke of Gloucester, who is the Grand Prior of the Order, at a service held at the Priory Church of St John in Clerkenwell, London, on Thursday.

 

The Queen is the Sovereign Head of the Order of St John and grants membership in recognition of outstanding contributions - normally involving many years' voluntary service.

 

The Order of St John is the parent charity of St John Ambulance and is a faith-based humanitarian organisation. There are 30,000 members worldwide.
