Bacchas A reclaim championship crown

by isleofman.com 20th November 2010

Bacchas A are men’s Manx hockey champions.

They sealed the Wi Manx men’s Premier League with a 5-2 success against their B side.

Johnny Callow (two), Will Wood, Andy Bridson and Shaun Corlett grabbed the goals to reclaim the crown from Valkyrs.

Josh Riordan and Craig Leece scored for Bacchas B on a day of celebration for the club.

Harlequins A and Vikings B shared four goals. Adam Hussey and Peter Foxton found the net for the ever-improving ‘Quins with Richard Gelder and Phil Clague scoring for Vikings B.

Saracens need three points from their final four matches if they are to survive in the top flight.

That’s after they went down 4-3 to Castletown.

Goals from James Russell and Steve Cottier (two) weren’t enough to grab a point as Town hit four through Christian Steriopolous (two), Al Corrin and Donald Stewart.

Kim Carney was the star of the show as reigning champions Vikings A hit seven to stay top in the women’s Premier League.

She hit five with Katie Errock and Marie Gousen netting the others in a 7-1 win over Castletown A – all this after a goalless first half!

Valkyrs A saw off Bacchas A 4-2 to stay in contention.

Ashley Hall, Leanne Prescott, Katy Craster and Andrea Kneen scored their goals with Jo Quine and Niamh Goddard replying for Bacchas.

Hannah Grubb and Laura Bellwood were on target as Ramsey A defeated Castletown B 2-0, while Michelle Clague and Carol Whitelegg (penalty) scored as Valkyrs B defeated Bacchas B by the same score.
