Top three go goal crazy

by isleofman.com 20th November 2010

The top two sides in the Canada Life Premier League both hit six to maintain their title ambitions on Saturday.

Reigning champions St George’s were 6-0 winners at Tromode against bottom club Gymns.

Doubles from Callum Morrissey, Sam Caine and one apiece from Neil Brogan and Ciaran McNulty – against his former club – secured the points.

That scoreline was repeated at Blackberry Lane as Old Boys saw off Corinthians.

Two each from Gary Quirk and Craig Stewart and one each from Callum Stewart and Sean Gavin rewarded the home side’s fine all-round performance.

Peel hit 10 at Ramsey to stay third.

Hat-tricks from Kerron Christian and Daniel Bell led the rout.

Marc Kelly grabbed two and there was one each from Gary Smith and Daniel Lace in a 10-3 romp at Ballacloan.

It was hard not to feel some sympathy for Jamie Moffitt who hit a hat-trick for the home side.

St Mary’s moved into fourth spot – Marc Priestnal, Tom Weir and Martin Reilly netting the goals in a 3-0 success at Castletown.

Reigning champions Rushen bounced back from a 6-0 hammering a week ago to hammer lowly Douglas Royal 6-0 at Croit Lowey – Josh Kelly (penalty), Steven Riding, Aaron Hawley (two), Mike Baker and Ted Pepper on target.
