RAMSEY & District Cottage Hospital has won one of the top honours at the Isle of Man Newspapers’ Awards for Excellence which took place at the Villa Marina on Thursday night.
The hospital was chosen as winner of the category for ‘Corporate and Social Responsibility’. The other nominees in this category were Britannia International, represented by Wendy Shimmin, and DEFA, represented by Martin Hall.
Ramsey & District Cottage Hospital has pioneered a pilot scheme ‘Live Well and Stay Well’ which helps chronically ill people where traditional care methods were not working.
There has been excellent feedback to the idea which was tailored from a UK scheme to meet the demands of the Isle of Man community.
An alternative approach to treatment has included the implementation of self-help, therapy and bio-psychosocial techniques.
The award was presented by sponsors Thomas Miller, represented by Bruce Kesterton.
