THE AWARD for ‘Teamwork’ at the Isle of Man Newspapers Awards for Excellence at the Villa Marina has been won by The Nursery & Midwifery Advisory Council represented last night by Bev Critchlow.
The Council believes that teamwork is essential for an organisation that brings together health care professionals from the public and private sectors to create a strong voice for every nurse and midwife in the Island.
Remarkable results achieved by the Council include the reintroduction of student nurse training in the Island, becoming the first nation in the British Isles to implement degree-only training, and implementing Masters’ level training in nurse prescribing.
The Council also identified an urgent need for additional mental health nurses that it addressed by earning accreditation with University of Chester for the delivery of a three year programme of learning.
The other nominees were Janet Lancaster and Yvonne Karran of Salon 3 and Jo Wood of Paragon International HR and Recruitment Ltd.
The award, sponsored by the Isle of Man Bank, was presented by Ian Perry.
