Jurby man set to stand trial

by isleofman.com 17th November 2010

A Jurby man is one of 10 people standing trial in Plymouth accused of being part of a heroin smuggling ring.

Leslie Palmer, who also lives in Plymouth, denies money laundering along with his 22 year-old son Jonathan.

Prosecutors in the UK say the group were part of a gang which ran drugs to Plymouth from Manchester, sending the cash back to the northern city.

Two of their co-accused have pleaded guilty to conspiring to transfer or conceal criminal property, while the eight others deny all the charges against them.

Judge Francis Gilbert QC granted bail and a lengthy trial is expected to start in Plymouth next May.
