Newspaper Excellence Awards - The Isle of Man Bank Award for 'Teamwork'

THE Isle of Man Bank Award for ‘Teamwork’ at the Isle of Man Newspapers Awards for Excellence on Thursday evening will feature Janet Lancaster and Yvonne Karran of Salon 3, Bev Critchlow of Nursing and Midwifery Advisory Council and Jo Wood of Paragon International HR and Recruitment Ltd.

 

Salon 3 has embraced new technology and developed staff skills, achieving many favourable comments from clients.

 

The company uses a computer system to track appointments and delivers text reminders to clients as part of the continuing drive to improve the service. Staff benefit from ongoing training which includes a UK mentor and testing performance in international competitions.

 

The team also plays an active part in the local community and generously support many local charities.

The Nursery & Midwifery Advisory Council Effective believes that teamwork is essential for an organisation that brings together health care professionals from the public and private sectors to create a strong voice for every nurse and midwife in the Island.

 

Remarkable results achieved by the Council include the reintroduction of student nurse training in the Island, becoming the first nation in the British Isles to implement degree-only training, and implementing Masters’ level training in nurse prescribing.

 

The Council also identified an urgent need for additional mental health nurses that it addressed by earning accreditation with University College Chester for the delivery of a three year programme of learning.

 

The award will be presented by Ian Perry of the Isle of Man Bank.
