The result has been an increase in motivation and commitment within the force which has seen crime figures reduced by more than 15% over the last year, particularly with regard to burglaries and domestic assaults.
Ballakermeen High School has nurtured a culture where staff feel valued and are able to express their views in a supportive environment. The school uses weekly bulletins and staff briefings for effective communication and was the first school in the Isle of Man to achieve both ‘Investor in People’ and ‘Leadership and Management’ awards.
Several UK universities also recognise Ballakermeen as a centre of excellence for teacher training. The school has a policy of promoting staff from within and engages with the private sector with a range of initiatives.
Manx Executive Challenge represents a unique opportunity for the Isle of Man’s young managers to develop both personally and professionally. Participants work on genuine projects of strategic importance to the Island with coaching from experienced professionals.
The Challenge is run by the Chartered Management Institute in partnership with the private and public sector nd has also developed strong links to the Isle of Man International Business School to deliver CMI modules.
The Challenge also offers an opportunity for young managers who have senior management potential to progress - building potential leaders of the future.
The award will be presented by Andy Bridson of Sure.
