No plans to extend 'whistleblowing' protection

Chief Minister Tony Brown says there are better ways for concerned employees to 'blow the whistle' about illegal or unethical practices than going to their MHK.

In Tynwald today (Tuesday), he was asked by Onchan MHK Peter Karran whether the government's 'whistleblowing' policy would be extended to MHKs and members of statutory boards.

Mr Brown said sufficient procedures were already in place to protect those who had to inform on their employer, and there were no plans the broaden the group of people protected under the policy:
