Karran is a one man question machine!

by isleofman.com 16th November 2010

It's the first day of the November sitting of Tynwald.

Politicians have a wide variety of topics to debate, although it is a relatively short order paper.

There are eleven questions for oral answer and 14 for written reply, and the Steam Packet Company is among the topics down for discussion..

The main order paper contains 36 items, although that doesn’t include those which aren't the subject of motions in the court, such as the date of the next census.

Onchan MHK and Liberal Vannin Party Leader Peter Karran leads the charge in questions, with nine of the eleven items for oral answer.

They touch on subjects including whistle-blowing by politicians and statutory board members, waiting times for surgery on the Island and how broadband speeds are advertised by companies.

Later in the sitting there will be a personal statement by Brenda Cannell MHK about her resignation from the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure, over the revised bus timetables, and the departments of infrastructure and social care will ask the court to approve spending ?1.1 million on schemes to improve roads and housing.

Manx Radio will provide full coverage of the Tynwald sitting on the AM 1368 service, from 10.30am.
