A MOTHER and baby have been treated for smoke inhalation after food packaging fell onto the cooker in their flat.
Fire crews were called to a block of flats in Ramsey at 5.40pm yesterday after a resident smelt burning.
Upon arrival the fire crew established that one of the flats had some smoke logging after some empty food packaging had fallen onto the hob while it was still hot.
The packaging had started to smoulder producing smoke and the fire crew used a small amount of water to extinguish the smouldering remains.
The mother and baby were taken by ambulance to Noble’s Hospital and the baby was admitted to the children’s ward for observations.
There was slight smoke damage caused to the kitchen and some heat damage to the hob.
Fire crews left the scene at 7.50pm.
