DOI workers defended by union boss

A trade union boss is defending Department of Infrastructure workers’ pay and conditions after a letter from government bosses.

DoI workers were told working practices urgently need updating as the department tries to slash ten per cent from its wage costs.

Among the issues singled out for attention is a claim some workers get up to 48 days holiday each year.

But Angela Moffatt of Prospect says that figure seems shockingly high - but, in fact, includes time in lieu which has been earned by staff.
