Brothers glee for table toppers

by isleofman.com 13th November 2010

The relentless march of St John's to the JCK Division Two title continued on Saturday – although it took time before the runaway leaders thrashed bottom club Douglas & District 10-0.

All 10 goals came in the second half after a resolute showing from D&D in the first 45 minutes.

In the end, quality shone through with brothers Andy and Steven Glover netting hat-tricks, two from player-manager Nick Hurt, one from Andy Chadwick and an own goal sealing the rout.

Union Mills moved up to second after seeing off the Police 4-3 at Garey Mooar.

Police, whose scorers were Gavin Brew, Jamie Stoy and an own goal, led 2-1 at the break but the Millers finished on top courtesy of Steve Quine (two), Chris Wilson and Dave Thomenny.

Colby moved up to third after a 2-0 win at Marown, while Pulrose overturned a half-time deficit to win 3-1 at Braddan to stay in fifth – Mark Reece, Barry English and an own goal sealing the points.

Ronaldsway are now off the bottom after winning the southern derby 5-2 at Malew.

Chris Rawlington was the hat-trick hero for the Rockets with Rob Bell and Jordan Edge netting the others.

Adam Drewett hit both goals for the home side.
