THE Department of Infrastructure and the Manx Electricity Authority have thanked staff for working through the storm last night.
The Operations Division of the Department of Infrastructure deployed several teams through the night following the severe weather warning issued by Ronaldsway Met Office.
The Ellerslie emergency control room dealt with over 50 separate incidents and sent workers out to deal with fallen trees, flooding, and structural damage to buildings.
Department Minister Phil Gawne MHK and department member Graham Cregeen MHK both expressed their thanks to staff for their "hard work and effort in difficult conditions".
The MEA reported that it was pleased with the resilience its networks demonstrated and said years ago such weather would have caused extensive problems.
Supply performance is measured by a figure known as Customer Minutes Lost and for unplanned events this figure is currently standing at approximately six minutes – a figure unparalleled by any of the 14 supply utilities in the UK.
A statement from the company said: "The performance is based on sound engineering practice and the dedication and skill of staff who respond to very difficult situations in frankly appalling conditions. We are very proud of them."
Engineering staff and fault support teams responded to minor incidents last night. However the majority of the MEA's customers remained on supply throughout the event.
