Council's opposition to deregulation remains

Douglas Borough Council is still against the taxi trade in the Isle of Man being controlled by an all-Island authority.

Two years ago, it voted against deregulation, and that stance has been reaffirmed in a submission under the latest consultation exercise.

Councillors believe the capital would be flooded with drivers at busy times, if the current restrictions on movement were removed.

Council leader David Christian says there wouldn't be enough business to go round:
