Severe weather causes problems across Island

by isleofman.com 8th November 2010

MOTORISTS are being asked to slow down and show consideration to Department of Infrastructure workers who are busy trying to rectify the damage caused by last night's weather.

Heavy winds and rain resulted in a number of fallen trees and substantial surface water flooding across the Island.

Teams from the Operations Division were deployed and have been working throughout the night to deal with the problems.

There are fallen trees and branches at Sulby Crossroads, Fairy Bridge, Whitebridge Hill, Cronk Urleigh, Waterworks and Bride.

Four trees are currently down in Maughold and the Sulby Glen Road is still closed after six trees came down. Four have now been cleared but workers are still dealing with the others.

Flooding has affected the Brown Cow Hill, Lezayre Road in Glen Duff, Ballacraine, Ballafletcher Road, Foxdale, Patrick, Ballagarrow, Kirk Michael, Garth, Rushen Church, Tosaby, Glen Helen, Rhencullen, Laurel Bank and the Sulby Claddaghs.

The department has said thank you to staff for their ongoing hard work and commitment.
