Moffitt treble halts Miners' progress

by isleofman.com 6th November 2010

There were goals galore in the Canada Life International Premier League on Saturday.

Reigning champions Rushen and St Mary’s shared four goals in the game of the day at Croit Lowey.

Steve Riding gave the champions a half-time lead, doubled by Josh Kelly after the break before the Saints hit back through Liam Cowin and Marc Priestnal to earn a draw.

Ramsey gained a fine point at home to Laxey to further damage the Miners’ title aspirations.

Jamie Moffitt was the hat-trick hero for the home side in a 3-3 thriller at Ballacloan.

Johnny Callow, Alan Harrison – against his former club – and Mike Wheeler netted for Laxey.

Castletown overturned a two goal deficit to secure an important point against newly promoted Ayre United at the Stadium.

A first half double from Jason Craine had put the Tangerines in the ascendancy before Brett Alcotte reduced the arrears.

Jack Charmer levelled late on to earn Town a share of the spoils.

The first clash between Ballafletcher’s landlords ended in a one-sided scoreline as Corinthians thrashed Douglas Royal 9-0.

A Nigel Moody hat-trick, a Danny Gerrard penalty, a Rob Bentley double and one apiece from Matthew Palmer, Connor Dowell, and Lee Sum, also from the penalty spot, sealed the rout.
