Formal identification of body expected soon

by isleofman.com 6th November 2010

A post mortem is due to be carried out today (Saturday) on a body found yesterday in Windsor Great Park, close to the home of missing millionairess and former Isle of Man resident Joanna Brown.

Confirmation a body had been discovered came from police during the evening, the day after they received information which led them to concentrate their search for Mrs Brown in a specific area of the park.

They stressed there had been no formal identification, but said members of Mrs Brown's family were being kept fully updated and continued to be supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

Earlier in the day, Mrs Brown's estranged husband Robert appeared before Slough Magistrates' Court, charged with her murder.

He was remanded in custody until Monday, when Reading Crown Court will hear an application for bail.

The magistrates reportedly heard Mrs Brown was thought to have died a violent, unnatural or sudden death.

Officers forced their way into her country mansion, in Ascot, on Monday, after a member of her family became concerned at not being able to get in touch with her.

The couple, who have a nine-year-old boy and an eleven-year-old girl, were in the process of getting divorced when Mrs Brown went missing.
