by isleofman.com 5th November 2010

A FUNDRAISING initiative by an Isle of Man charity will see one lucky Island resident win a brand new car worth more than £12,000.

The Children's Centre has organised the "Hands on a Honda" challenge with support from Kingswood Honda who gifted a brand new Honda Jazz as the prize.

Michelle O'Malley, acting fundraising manager at The Children's Centre, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Kingswood Honda for donating this fantastic car.

"We've been out and about all summer selling tickets and we have been amazed by the uptake so now we're just on that final push to sell the last few."

On Saturday, November 13, fifty ticket holders will be drawn at random. These 50 will then undertake the challenge to win the car a week later on Saturday, November 20.

The car will be divided into 50 squares – one of which will be a pre-determined winner – and the finalist that guesses the correct square will drive off with the car worth £12,500.

The local business community has supported the challenge with a number of local companies signing up to take part.

Mark Denton, managing director of SMP Partners, said: "We're delighted to continue our support for The Children's Centre with whom we have worked for many years and at the same time show our appreciation and have some fun with our 135-strong team by giving them the chance to win a new car."

It is hoped that the initiative will raise in the region of £15,000 for the charity.

Tickets cost £5 and will be available to buy up until Friday, November 12. They are available by calling 01624 631918 or e-mailing fundraising@thechildrenscentre.org.im.
