Bonfire night warning to revellers

by isleofman.com 5th November 2010

Be safe not sorry and always follow the code.

That's the message from the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service, police and the Office of Fair Trading, ahead of Bonfire night.

There will be organised firework displays at a number of venues around the Island this evening (Friday) and the message is going out to everybody to have fun, but be careful as well.

There is also a reminder to all pet owners to ensure their animals are safely locked indoors, so they don't suffer any distress.

Bonfires will be lit at Kirk Michael school and Peel at 7pm, ahead of firework displays half an hour later. The Peel fireworks will be set off from the Breakwater.

There's plenty going on in Port Erin, where the best illuminated lantern parade starts at 6.15pm at the quarter-deck, with participants making their way down to the Cosy Nook cafe for judging at 6.30. The fireworks start at 7pm.

Mooragh Park is the venue for the Ramsey display, which begins at 7.30pm.

The display on Douglas beach is tomorrow (Saturday) night.
