by isleofman.com 4th November 2010

A DROP-IN session is being held for potential foster carers today (Thursday).

Fostering First staff will be at The Children's Centre to talk to people interested in becoming a foster carer.

Fostering First is a new organisation which is responsible for the provision of foster care across the Island.

People can find out about short term fostering, emergency fostering, long term fostering and respite care.

Fiona Lassen, head of fostering services at Fostering First, said: "Right now there are children in the Isle of Man who need the support of foster carers to help bring some stability into their lives.

"We are urging anyone who has an interest in becoming a carer to come along to the drop-in sessions.

"We can explain the different types of foster care we provide and give information on other issues such as training, support and eligibility requirements."

The drop-in session will run from 2pm to 6pm at the centre which is located on Woodbourne Road in Douglas.
