Missing woman: family issues statement

by isleofman.com 3rd November 2010

The family of a missing Isle of Man-born woman have issued a message asking for their privacy to be respected.

Forty-six-year-old Joanna Brown, nee Simpson, was reported missing from her home in Ascot on Monday.

Her husband, British Airways pilot Robert Brown, was arrested and is still being questioned on suspicion of her murder.

The message, released via the Thames Valley Police website, says: 'This is a very difficult time for our family. Please respect our privacy. While we understand that the investigation is of press interest, we ask people to stop speculating about what has happened until we find out the outcome.

'We ask that anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Joanna contact the police. Jo is a very special person, loved and admired by everyone who knows her, a wonderful and caring mother to her two children.'

Officers were yesterday granted a warrant of further detention and have until tomorrow (Thursday) morning to question Mr Brown.
