LOCAL performer Sam Barks has received high praise from an Island Minister who saw her perform in the West End.
Community, Culture and Leisure Minister, David Cretney MHK saw Sam take to the stage as Eponine in the West End production of Les Miserablés.
The Minister was on a personal visit to London at the time.
He said: "I have not seen Les Mis before and was unsure about whether I would enjoy it - but I certainly wanted to go and see Sam in the performance. It is a really powerful production and Sam was wonderful. Praise is certainly due to Sam for progressing so well in her chosen career."
Sam was born in the Island and shot to fame in 2008 on the BBC One show "I'd Do Anything" which saw Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber search for the part of Nancy in the stage production of Oliver.
She came third in the show and went on to play Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Les Miserablés is Sam's West End debut.
Mr Cretney continued: "We should, as an Island, be very proud of our young people as they go out in the world in whatever dream they follow."
