Michael health centre 'not a lost cause'

Some form of medical centre could still be built in Kirk Michael, according to Ayre MHK and former Health Minister Eddie Teare.

He was speaking as the first sod was cut at the site of the new ?1.6 million surgery and community centre for the north of the Island, on land formerly occupied by the Jurby Hotel.

Mr Teare said the facility had been a long time coming, but he was in no doubt it was the right building in the right place.

He said he was aware of the concerns of people living in Kirk Michael, who wanted a similar facility in their village as well, and felt their cause wasn't totally lost:
