Chief Minister election plans on hold?

Plans to publicly elect the Island’s next Chief Minister may have reached the end of the road – at least until after next year’s General Election.

So says South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey after his bill proposing such a move was rejected by the House of Keys last week.

However, while he’s considering his next move, he firmly believes the majority of the Manx public do want to have a say in who secures the 'top job' in Manx politics.
