Churches make presentation to Tynwald

by isleofman.com 29th October 2010

Churches have acknowledged the work the Manx parliament continues to do to advance the cause of inclusivity in the Isle of Man.

A framed copy of the Covenant for Mission has been handed over to President of Tynwald Noel Cringle, by Canon Brendan Alger, the outgoing head of the Catholic Church on the Island.

The covenant was signed by the Island's churches at a ceremony on June 20, to publicly demonstrate their commitment to work together.

Canon Alger said, in the spirit of Freedom to Flourish, it reflected the desire of the Island's churches to move forward, recognise differences and work together in mission.

He added the churches' recognition of diversity was mirrored by Tynwald, which acknowledged the importance of shared awareness and mutual respect.
