Red meat processor looks to Manx market

New openings for Isle of Man meat are on the horizon.

Around 180 local farmers gathered for a meeting at Ellerslie Farm on Thursday evening to hear from one of the United Kingdom's largest processors of red meat.

Preston-based Dunbia has sites across the United Kingdom and is looking to partner with Manx beef and lamb farmers to supply major British markets.

Dunbia's procurement manager Adrian Roberts says there's some good business to be done with the Manx (first part of audio file):

Interest in sending livestock to the UK has increased, with the Island's red meat derogation due to end later this month.
